My hearing may be bad, but music is still something I ought to enjoy. So I went down to the local thrift shop that has periodic free stuff giveaways to see what I could pick up.
One of the items I scrounged was a radio boom box. It doesn't have a CD player in it which doesn't matter; all I cared about is the radio, so I lugged it home to see if it works.
I fiddled around with the tuner and the volume before I finally got sound out of it. I then proceeded to tinker with the on/off switch and it finally broke loose with the music.
I picked up a pile of shelf brackets as well, so I made good use of them along with some extra scrap speaker wire, paint, screws, wall anchors, and some particle board I had in the wood bin.
I mounted the shelf for the main box in a convenient location near the main project workbench and placed the speaker shelves over the pegboard. With a separation of about 14 feet there's a decent stereo effect from the unit.
That's one more item checked off the gotta have list for the garage.
Total cost: $0.00. Ahhhh. I love it when the budget money stays in the wallet!
